List of tasks according to the Party Act

With the introduction of the federal act on the financing of political parties (Political Parties Act 2012), Federal Law Gazette No. I 56/2012, the Austrian Court of Audit was conveyed the following tasks:

  • appoint accountants to examine the accountability reports of political parties and campaigning parties (section 5 paragraph 2, section 13 Political Parties Act)
  • audit and publish accountability reports of political parties and campaigning parties (section 5 paragraph 7, section 10 paragraph 1-3, section 13 Political Parties Act)
  • request the total amount of the legal transactions that legal entities subject to audit by the ACA have concluded with partner undertakings and publish the results (section 5 paragraph 6 Political Parties Act)
  • publish reports on donations to political parties and campaigning parties of more than 50,000 € (section 6 paragraph 5, section 13 Political Parties Act)
  • list unlawful donations to political parties, campaigning parties, members of parliament, political candidates and affiliated organisations in the activity report and transfer them to charitable or scientific institutions (section 6 paragraph 7 and 8, section 13 Political Parties Act)
  • in case of assumed violations by political parties and campaigning parties of accountability obligations, prohibitions of the acceptance of donations or the restriction on campaign expenses, the documents must be sent to the Independent Political Parties Transparency Panel (section 10 paragraph 4-8, section 11 paragraph 1, section 12 paragraph 1, section 13 Political Parties Act)
  • publish amounts for campaign expenses and donations that have been changed by valorisation (section 14 paragraph 2 Political Parties Act).
