From October to November 2016, the Austrian Court of Audit (ACA) carried out an audit of site structures of general compulsory schools in the provinces of Tyrol and Vorarlberg. The audit was carried out at the respective offices of the provincial governments and at the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research. The audited period spanned the school years 2011/2012 to 2015/2016 or the years from 2011 through 2015.
The audit aimed at disclosing and assessing the federal and provincial regulations with regard to the determination of school sites and catchment areas and the development of the school site structure and the significant parameters (in particular the number of pupils) over time. A key objective of the audit was to evaluate the completed and planned measures related to the school site structure and the underlying concepts regarding savings and the potential for synergies.
